NATURE PARK TELAŠĆICA

Telašćica Bay is located in the central part of the eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea, in the south-eastern part of the island of Dugi Otok. For its extreme beauty, richness and importance, this bay surrounded by 13 islands and islets, together with 6 islets inside the bay itself, was proclaimed a Nature Park in 1988. Telašćica acquired the status of a protected area already in 1980 because of its valuable flora and fauna, geological and geomorphological phenomena, versatile sea bottom life, and interesting archaeological heritage.
DRAGON'S EYE
Near the bay Brbinjšćica there is an interesting natural attraction and a place where you will surely take ingenious photos. It is about the Dragon’s Eye which at first glance looks like a pool in a rock. It is actually a natural phenomenon caused by the wear of limestone, and when you dive, you will see that it hides all sorts of passages. Among other things, it is possible to dive the rock that separates the ‘pool’ from the sea.
GOLUBINKA CAVE
Near the Dragon’s Eye there is another natural phenomenon – the Golubinka cave. You can enter it by swimming or kayaking (there are organized kayak tours), and once you find yourself in it, you will be left breathless. There is an opening at the top of the cave, so when the sun’s rays reach you, you will enjoy the wonderful range of colors in the impressive interior of the cave.
SCARY OVEN CAVE
Fairies and mystical beings have always been associated with hidden and secret places. So once upon a time on Dugi otok, when the island was as long as it is today, and maybe even longer, it was the fairies who agreed to divide it into two parts, in its narrowest place. They dug and dug diligently, but at dawn they were caught in the work and trapped in a cave of unfinished business. Thus arose the legend of the “origin” of the Terrible Furnace as proof of the fairy’s intention.
